26 I assume William is the son of Elisha for the following reasons:
1. The continuity of names, especially Elisha.
2. The dates are feasible.
3. They are all in Breage.
4. There is a gap in the original records from 1681 to 1695. The pages are unreadably faded. In the Bishop's Transcripts, a page or pages are missing, covering 1682 to 1683. This seems more than coincidence, and suggests a birth date for William of 1682/3.

31 Ann Courtenay Matthews' record shows Thomas as the father of Bennett, previously assumed in N.Z. to be the youngest of five children of Richard and Phillippa.
However the time spread between youngest and oldest is such that it is feasible to shift Bennett down one generation. I would like to follow this up some time in Cornwall.

34 There is some evidence (disembarkation list) that William arrived on "The Sir Thomas Gresham" in which case he was born during the voyage. William Palamountain

35 William has been listed as son of Elisha based on dates and geography.
There is an unreadable 14 year section in the primary records, covering this period, and a 2 year gap in the Bishops Returns due to lost pages.
One therefore assumes that this is why the connection cannot be proven at this time.
